INFORMATION,
Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim will launch the Komuniti 1Malaysia unit in Limbang on Dec 19.

While there, he is also expected to meet and mingle with the locals during his walkabout session from Purnama Hotel to the Dataran Jubli Emas.

The launching of the Komuniti 1Malaysia is a rebranding of the Komuniti Bestari.

He will be accompanied by the Second Minister of Resource Planning and Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is also the state information exco.

Sarawak has a total of 144 units of Komuniti Bestari with about 14,000 members statewide.

At the same function, Dr Rais will also launch the Kampung Bunga Raya wifi service and the Sahabat 1Malaysia campaign.

The two-day event is jointly organised by the departments and agencies under Information Communication and Culture Ministry (KPKK) and the State Government with the Information Department as their lead agency.

Meanwhile, on Dec 18, a 1Malaysia Forum by the ministry’s Special Affairs Department (Jasa) will be held at Purnama Hotel and a concert (Pentarama) featuring singers and dancers from the Information Department will entertain the big crowd expected at the Dataran Jubli Emas at 8pm.

Other interesting events are a sukaneka, an exhibition by the various government department and agencies under KPKK and also the locals and private sector and a bunga raya (hibiscus) campaign to be held for two-days.

The Bunga Raya campaign is to project the hibiscus flower as the national flower and also to tell its many uses to the people.

The public are invited to visit the exhibition to make enquiries of official matters, job vacancies and to find out the policies of the government and take the chance to register as a member of the Sahabat 1Malaysia. Admission to the event is free.
